Alien
Alien is a sci-fi horror movie. It tells the story of a group of explores traveling through space. When they receive a distress signal from another ship they stop off at an unknown planet to investigate. There they discover a deadly mutating alien life form and it accompanies them on their journey home. Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, Yaphet Kotto, and Veronica Cartwright round out the cast of this doomed space crew.
Alien is like the classic horror films, but with a sci-fi twist. Director Riddley Scott masterfully builds tension as one by one the crew members are killed off. Setting the story in space adds to the suspense as there is nowhere to run. He uses the halls of the spaceship like a maze with the crew trying to navigate their way to safety. In the center lurks the titular alien waiting for his prey. This entrapment keeps the suspense constant for the viewer, knowing that any wrong turn could spell certain doom for the crew members.
Alien is a heart pounding horror movie. It will have you on edge throughout. The film shows the dangers of scientific exploration and how somethings are better left undiscovered.
