Let Me In

Let Me In is a sad horror movie. It’s about Owen, a neglected, bullied teenage boy played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, who befriends Abby, a strange teenage girl played by Chloë Grace Moretz. They become inseparable helping to make one another stronger, but when people from their neighborhood suddenly start disappearing Owen learns Abby’s dark secret -she’s a vampire!

Mortez and Mcphee honestly convey the out casted state of their characters. They wonderfully portray the codependent nature of Owen and Abby’s relationship. Abby provides Owen protection from his tormentors. Owen provides Abby sustenance for her to survive. They both provide each other companionship.

Let Me In is a sad yet horrific film. Director Matt Reves shows in gory detail the horrors that can stem from being bullied and rejected by society. He brilliantly uses still shots and close ups to perfectly capture the loneliness that the characters embody. The movie shows that no matter where you come from we can all find friendship in this cold and dark world.
