Good Time
Good Time is an intense crime thriller. The movie follows the long night’s journey of Connie, played by Robert Pattinson, a wanted criminal who goes to great lengths to get his mentally handicapped brother Nick, played by Benny Safdie, out of prison after a bank robbery gone wrong.
Robert Pattinson is excellent as the cunning, manipulative Connie. He lies, charms, begs and threatens his way into getting what he wants. Pattinson shows that despite his disgusting actions Connie genuinely cares for and is concerned about his brother. Benny Safdie is brilliant as the slow naive Nick. Buddy Duress is also really good as Ray, a pathetic recently paroled criminal who gets mistakenly caught up in Connie’s late night odyssey.
Good Time is a heart racing crime thriller. Taking place during just one night it perfectly captures the chaos of criminal life. The Safdie brothers use quick cuts and hand held cameras to make the chase scenes feel alive. They masterfully build tension by constantly raising the stakes. Every decision that Connie makes lands him in increasingly deeper water. The films adrenaline filled synthetic score adds to its rapid pace. The movie takes you on a non-stop rollercoaster ride that’s sure to leave you on the edge of your seat. Unlike its characters your gonna have a “good time.”
